Maintenance of refrigeration coils is an important step in keeping your plant working efficiently. The above picture is a refrigeration coil that was in desperate need of cleaning.

What are some signs that you might have a dirty coil?

    • Drying time has become longer
    • Solvent usage has gotten worse
    • Have more waste water (the coil will freeze and become a block of ice, then thaw and you end up with more waste water)
    • The low side refrigeration gauge will read under 5 on the gauge.
    • Your operator will become frustrated and let you know it.

To make sure you don’t need to worry about the above signs, Dry cleaning manufacturer’s recommend pulling the coils once a year and flushing them with water.

Maintenance of the disc filters are also over looked by most. Here are some signs it’s time to clean them:

    • Machine is two years old and you have never cleaned them
    • Filter pressure is 25 – 30 psi, you still them, and pressure id back up in days.

Maintenance of the base tanks on a hydrocarbon machine is also important. Lint builds up and moisture gets trapped which then can lead to bacteria breeding.

Base tanks should be cleaned once a year. Here are some signs to look for to denote it’s time to clean:

    • Plant and clothes smell like rotten socks or baby vomit. (shows up in cottons first).
    • ntagermpicmokeyPeople come in your plant and tell you there’s an odor in your plant or my clothes smell rotten. Your in the plant all day and as a rule, you can’t smell it. A fresh nose can, take the person serious. Remember, N-ta-germ is a great protect against the bacteria.

Maintenance of the water separator once a month is also very important. You would only use deodorant once a week, consider a deodorant for your customers clothes!
